At JJTDS we believe that performing is an important and exciting part of a dancer's training, helping to build confidence, teamwork, lasting memories and a sense of pride.
All students have the opportunity to take part in our biennial school showcase, performed for family and friends.
Students can also choose to join our Showteam, which performs at external shows and events. Dancers of all abilities are welcome to take part, with regular Sunday rehearsals for those who join the team.
Students also have the optional opportunity to take part in the annual Spring Dance Festival, performing solos, duets, trios and group dances in a competitive but friendly and supportive environment. Taking part really helps dancers to improve their presentation skills.
We also participate in the IDTA Gala of Dance at the Sunderland Empire Theatre which is held biennially and alternating with the Elsa Wilkins Bursary Awards at the Fed in Gateshead.
Students may also have opportunities to attend IDTA Area Workshops and workshops with industry professionals.
Take a look below at some of the fantastic performances, events and experiences our students have enjoyed over recent years.
